Henry "Bud" Lanning

Henry “Bud” Lanning, 81, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 14, 1939 in Elkin, NC to the late Remus J. and Lucy Tucker Lanning and was married to Jo Ann Johnson Rich Lanning.  Bud was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as an usher.  He was a retired self-employed painter.  He was always a gentleman who was very loving and happy to see you.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Rich Lanning; daughter, Kay Andrews; step children, Vickie Shelton, Susan (Darrel) Jones, Karen (Lynn) Perry, Elizabeth (Buddy) Maness; Steven (Kim) Rich, Donald Trump, Jr., James Trump III and a sister Lynda Russell; grandchildren; Logan Ledbetter, Hunter Shay Ledbetter; great grandchildren, Maggie Ledbetter and Landon Clate Ledbetter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cheryl Lanning Lowell; a sister, Jeane Lanning Staley; grandchildren, Lyndsey Ledbetter and Kayla Ledbetter

The funeral will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at Tabernacle Baptist Church by Pastor Norman Fargis.  Interment will follow in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lanning will be taken to his home to lie in state Saturday after 4:00 PM until being taken to the church at 2:00 PM Sunday to lie in state prior to the service.  The family will receive friends at the home.
