Burlington, NC Henry Dowdy Morgan, age 82, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Hospice Home. He was born on July 7, 1926 in Pender County and resided in Burlington since 1944. Henry was a veteran of the US Army, 11th Airborne Division serving as a paratrooper during WW II seeing action in the Battle of Luzon in the Phillippines. He worked for Western Electric for 10 years and later worked for many years at Auto Parts and Electric and retired from the City of Graham. Henry was a member of First Christian United Church of Christ and a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge. He loved playing golf with his friends, Duke Basketball and eating lunch at Broad Street Lunch. Survivors include his wife, Frances Bryant Morgan of 59 years; three sons, Ray Morgan of Gibsonville, Ronnie Morgan and his wife, Gail of Burlington, Michael Morgan and his wife, Sarah of Raleigh; two daughters, Dianne Morgan of Gibsonville and Michele Walker and her husband, Wayne of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Will Morgan, Brenn Linens, Jim Morgan, Bryant Morgan, Tom Morgan, Maddox Morgan and Bella Gray Morgan; one great grandchild, Kenley Linens and one sister, Pearl M. Way of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary Howard Morgan; two brothers, Vance and Willie Morgan; two sisters, Betty Thalgott and Cora Futch. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and nurses of Hospice for their care and compassion .Special thanks to the Alamance Regional Cancer Center, Alliance Urology in Greensboro and Imprimis Urology in Burlington. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. G. Scott Comrie. The graveside service will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with Military Honors being provided by the 82nd Airborne Division from Ft. Bragg. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
