Henry Franklin Maynard, age 81, devoted husband and father passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on September 2, 2005. His passing was peaceful with his beloved wife of 52 years and 5 children by his side. His earthly life had to end so his new eternal painless life could begin. Henry was born May 17, 1924 to Julius Ernest and Carolina Young Maynard in Fayetteville. He and his wife Mary moved to Burlington in 1955. He was a retired painter and builder and was a member of Graham Church of God. On November 1, 1952, he married his sweetheart Mary Elizabeth Maynor who will miss him most of all. She has been a faithful companion in his life and she will remember the sorrow, pain, joy and laughter they experienced together for almost 53 years. Henry and Mary gave the world 5 children, his son, Glennis F. Maynard and wife Michelle of Clayton; daughters, Kay Haney and husband Johnny of Linden, Elaine Smith and husband Randy of Hillsboro, Oregon, Kathy Lorraine Timblin and husband Steve of Burlington and Penney Gail Coley and husband Ray of Nashville, NC; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Margaret Creech of Efland, Odell Cooke and Dovie Clark, both of Hope Mills, Alice Ammons of Clinton, and Flossie Salazar of Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Julius Buddy Maynard. His home going ceremony will be held at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 4, 2005 at 4:00 pm with Rev. Jimmy Holland officiating. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Saturday, September 3, 2005 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
