Henry Samuel “Sammy” Joyce, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Caswell County and was the son of the late Henry Nick and Lucy Bell Marshall Joyce. He was married for 57 years to his loving wife Daisy “Mollie” King Joyce who passed away on January 3, 2021.
Sammy retired from Cone Mills White Oak Plant and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to smile, dance, and walk around the park with his dog.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (David) Sledge and Tracie (David) Morrison; sons, Jeffrey (Laura) Joyce, Sidney Joyce, and Thomas Joyce; grandchildren, Lou Anne Boger, Linda Whittington, Danny Howell, Henry Joyce, Bo Dale Joyce, Brock Howell, Hope Feely, Christopher Joyce, Cameron Southern and Ashley Joyce; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Ziegler and brother, Kevin Joyce. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Betty Lou Joyce and a brother, Jimmy Lee Joyce.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Hope River Church by Rev. Larry Andrews and Rev. Larry Pope with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
