Mary “Helen" Hurley Brady, 66, of Elon, NC earned her heavenly wings on May 4, 2021 at Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC after suffering a stroke nearly three weeks before. Her last memories were doing what brought her joy, at a local nursery choosing plants for her garden and preparing for upcoming baby showers for the sweet little blessings.
Born in Montgomery County, NC, she was one of 13 children of the late Harvey Wilson and Myrtle Woodell Hurley.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe Randy Brady. They raised her youngest brother, John Hurley and have one daughter, Tonya Brady of Greensboro and a sweet grand dog, Isabella. Helen took joy in raising a large garden to share with friends and family and canning green beans and pumpkins for Miss Isabella.
She retired just as COVID changed the world, after working for many years where she met very special friends who brightened her days. Her most important work was caring for others, which she did throughout her life.
She is survived by siblings Cora Beane, Vernon Hurley, Worth (Joyce) Hurley, Dianne (Keith) Wolford, Shirley (Mike) Brady, Betty (David) Locklear, John (Lora) Hurley, very special sister-in-law Gladys and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by siblings Robert Hurley, Gene Hurley, Charles Hurley, Brenda Sanders and George Hurley
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 11 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 10 at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Cone Hospital as well as the many prayers from friends and family from near and far. We take peace in knowing that Helen will enjoy Mother’s Day with her mother in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any cause that brings you joy. She especially loved pets and children. Bikes for Kids is a local non-profit with 100% helping to make a difference for children. 3300 Battleground Ave, Ste 250, Greensboro, NC 27410
