Mrs. Helen Robbins Wade, age 63, of Mt. View Rd., passed away May 12, 2014 at UNC Hospital after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Hardin Monroe Robbins, Sr. and Mrs. Kathleen Ruppard Robbins, who survives. She was married for over 36 years to the late Roger Gwynn Wade, Sr., who died in 2006. She was retired from Classic Food Services with over 20 years of service and was an avid softball player. Helen was a longtime member of Wicker St. Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir. Mrs. Wade is survived by her mother of Haw River; daughter, Doris Wade Starnes and her husband, Chuck, of Burlington; her son, Roger Gwynn Wade, Jr. of Burlington; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Edna Larry Johnson of Graham, Joann James Moore and Mary Gene Avery, both of Lenoir, NC and Judy Terry of Haw River; three brothers, Hardin Elaine Robbins, Jr. of Burlington, James "Cotton" Rachel Robbins of Lenoir and Jimmy Linda Robbins of Snow Camp; and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Edwards of Galax, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband; father; and sister, Peggy Edwards. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, May 16, 2014 at Wicker St. Baptist Church by Rev. Ricky Lewis and Rev. Tommy Love. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory aqnd other times at her sister, Edna Johnson's home, 517 Graham Dr., Graham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wicker St. Baptist Church, 512 Wicker St., Burlington, NC 27217 or to the Alamance County Humane Society at www.hsaconline.org.
