Helen Long

Helen Duffer Long passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Hospice Home. She was born February 25, 1914. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simmie Harris and Mary Fitz Duffer and brothers, Richard and Maylon Duffer. She retired from Western Electric/Lucent Technologies after 30 years of service with perfect attendance, never having missed a day of work. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Methodist Church. Helen never met a stranger and was friendly to everyone. She had a great passion for cooking and will be remembered for preparing wonderful dishes for her family, a yearly family reunion, and certain fraternal organizations. Helen is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Byron Long of the home; several nieces and nephews, and friends that she truly adored and loved dearly. The family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care she received from the nurses and staff at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. The funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darrell Massey. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 11:3012:45 Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
