Whitsett-Helen Clarine Ingold, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Guilford County and the daughter of the late Denny Murphy and Emma Florence Greeson Ingold.
Clarine was a High School Mathematics teacher in Burlington (2), Acme Delco (4), Hasty in Thomasville (1) and Spencer High School in North Rowan (27) retiring in 1981 after teaching for over 34 years. She was lifetime member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ and very active in Sunday School and women's work in her church. She also served in the Southern Conference Women's work. Clarine was a 1942 graduate of Alamance High School and a 1947 graduate of Catawba College where she received her teaching degree.
Survivors include her sister, Jeanne G. Ingold of the home; sister-in-law, LuEller Ingold of Whitsett and a Brother-in-law, Coy Amick of Pleasant Garden; 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James "Jim" Ingold and Murphy Floyd Ingold; sisters, Elsie Mildred Ingold, Johnsie Ingold Clapp,Wanda Ingold Amick and Iona Ingold Humble; brothers-in-law, John Lee Clapp and Elmer A. Humble.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Kristin Gerner Vaughn and Rev. Lynne Hinton. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45pm prior to the service on Friday at the church and other times at the home of her niece, Linda Ingold Kirkman.
