Helen Elizabeth “Liz” Friddle Satterfield Boyd, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Guilford County to the late Carl May, Sr. and Johnsie Mariah Friddle Sharpe.
Helen retired after many years with Burlington Industries and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. When Helen was able, she enjoyed driving her tractor and working in her garden. Helen loved to pick with everyone, she was very witty, enjoyed fishing, dancing, antique shopping and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. But most of all she loved spending time with her family who will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri Satterfield Hatcher and husband Danny; grandchildren, Shannon Randleman and wife Elizabeth, Chad Randleman and Stephanie Pritchett, Kimberly Brooke Oakes and husband Chris, Josh Talley and wife Heather, Lacey Elizabeth Warden and husband John, Nick Hatcher and fiancé Hailey Davis; sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter “Walt” Boyd, Sr.; a daughter, Sherry Satterfield Talley; and her siblings, Harvey Friddle, Cozy Satterfield and Carl May, Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 1, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Randy Hobbs with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:45pm Friday prior to the service and other times at the residence.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice staff and nurses for all their loving care and compassion that was shown to Helen during her illness, especially to her nurses Toni and Beverly.
