Hazel Ward Flynn, 88, of 306 Wood St. passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Flynn was born April 30, 1922 in Guildford County to the late Eugene and Clara Mae Dillon Ward. She was the widow of the late Fred Raymond Flynn who preceded her in May of 2007. Hazel retired from Liberty Hosiery Mill and A.M. Pullen accounting; was a member of the V. F. W. Women's Auxiliary; and the Gibsonville United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Circle and the Wharton Sunday School Class. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Hinton Beaver and husband Gary of Concord, Linda Flynn Sykes and husband Joseph of Charleston, SC, Karen Flynn Daniels and husband Larry of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Tamie Wells, Dr. Rodney Daniels, Joseph Sykes, Jr.; great grandchildren, Dillon Wells, Baxter Wells, Reilly Wells, Atticus Daniels, Donovan Daniels, Fiona Daniels, Courtney Sykes, Joseph Sykes III and Cole Sykes. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Tela Dyer and Shirley Isley. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Gibsonville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Marlowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
