Burlington, NC Hazel Shockley Cannon, 80, of 1546 Maple Avenue went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at her home. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late Elmer Price and Ethel Bowman Shockley. Hazel retired after 30 years with Burlington Industries and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Raye C. Shimer of Kinston; grandchildren, Alton Sugg, III,and his wife, Silvia, Mary Ann Jordan and her husband, Michael, Audrey Horan and her husband, Scott and Frank Gibson; great grandchildren; Erin Grice, Blake Motsko, Austyn Edwards, Noah Edwards, Kyler Horan, Eric Jordan and Alyson Jordan; son-in-law, Emmitt E. Gibson of Maryland; sister, Edith Gammon and her husband, Oscar of Prospect Hill; sister-in-law, Jewell Baker Gardner of Kinston; brother-in-law, Clayton Yarborough of Burlington and many nieces and nephews; special nieces care givers, Marie Howe and Ann Shively. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Bender Cannon; daughter, Mary Helen Gibson; parents; sisters, Stella Shatterly and Rebecca Ruth S. Yarborough. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Neal Salter. The family will be at the home and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
