Hazel Ann Williams Bowes, 76, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the Hospice Home after two months of failing health. She was born on October 9, 1946 in Horry County, SC to the late Alton Dow “A.D.” Williams and Jewell Louise Fowler Williams Scott.
Hazel retired from Alamance Eye Prosthetics after 20 years of service. She was a member of Phillips Chapel Church where she was a member of the “Slap Happy Quilters” group. Hazel loved to quilt, read, spending time with her family and her cats.
She is survived by her sisters, Margie Williams Poole and Betty Williams Brooks; nieces and nephews, Debbie, Mike, Sherri, Allen, Tommy, Dean, Todd, Denise and Donnie; and thirteen great nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Thomas and Gene Williams.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nursing staff at AuthoraCare (Hospice Home) for their excellent care that was shown to Hazel during her time there.
The graveside service to celebrate the life of Hazel will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 2, 2023 at Phillips Chapel Church Cemetery by Rev. Mark Stephens.
