Brown Summit-Hattie Apple "Miss Hattie" Brown, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Guilford County and the wife of the late Howard Butler Brown who died August 1991.
Hattie was a lifelong farmer, working on the family farm and a vendor at the Greensboro Farmer's Market. She was a lifetime member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church and a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class. "Miss Hattie" was a loving and caring person to everyone she met and very devoted to her family.
Survivors include her children, Bonnie Baity and husband, Vernon, Wayne Brown, Dale Brown and wife, Sandra, Sharon May and husband, Dale and David Brown and wife, Cherri all of Brown Summit; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sister, Bettie Greene of Liberty and a brother, Arlie Apple of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Toy Dewey and Ruth Lowe Apple; brother, Frank Apple and sisters, Louise Loye and Irene Murray.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 3 South at Moses Cone, Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell and Advanced Home Health Care.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Pastor Dave Johnson and Rev. C. Allen Myers, III and the burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church and other times at David Brown's home in Brown Summit.
