Harvey Cooper Walker, 81, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his home. He was born in Caswell County to the late Harvey Curry and Sallie Florence Walker and was the husband of 44 years to the late Ann Kearns Walker. Cooper served in the US Army and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Burlington. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his golf buddies. Cooper graduated from Elon High School, Elon College and Richmond Polytechnic Institute. He worked for Meredith-Webb Printing Company for 51 years. Cooper was a talented artist and was deeply loyal to his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Candace Harrison and husband, Kent of Greensboro, Leigh Ann Mertens and husband, Mark of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Seth and Tessa Harrison and Cooper Mae and Emma Mertens; a sister, Keron Sherwin of Salisbury; nieces, Lucy, Sally, Nancy and Judy and his best friends, Stuart "Yank" Oldson and George Morris. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Hazel Walker Fox. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Ronald L. Shive with the burial to follow at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until 10:45am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Tee of the Triad, PO Box 236, Clemmons, NC 27012.
