Burlington-Harry Eugene Ross, Sr., 85, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at ARMC. He was born in Camden, Ohio to the late William Cyrus and Mary Ann Sizemore Ross. He was the husband of 63 years to Phyllis King Ross who survives.
Harry retired from the USDA and previously was employed with Wonder Bread company. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. Harry had a zest for life and he enjoyed driving his red Mazda Miata convertible around town and being part of “The Liars’ club”. He was a longtime member of AA for over 48 years and he helping others who struggled with sobriety. Harry was a stylish dresser and he loved gardening and was affectionately known as “Poppy” by family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis King Ross of the home; daughters, Debra Sansone, Donna Kirby and Diane Ross all of Burlington, Denise Lademann and husband, Bill of Cutchogue, New York, Dawn Schoedel and husband, Chris of Minot, North Dakota, and Danielle Schwab and husband, Dustin of Plymouth, Nebraska; sons, Harry Eugene Ross, Jr. and wife, Jeanne of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Marlynn Dunlap and, Andrea Morris; multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Tom Sansone and great granddaughter, Kaylee Kirby; sisters, Dollie Schrupp, Ella McKendrick and Alice Natho and a brother, Bill Ross, Jr.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 219 at 11:00am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darryl R. Peebles. The US Air Force will provide military honors at the conclusion of the service.
