Harry Lee Carter, Sr., 64, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2020. He was born in Alamance County to the late Harry and Mary Gammon Carter and was married for 35 years to Cindy Carter who survives. Harry loved his church family and was an active member at Ossipee Baptist Church. He was a former employee at UNC Chapel Hill and was an avid Tar Heel and Carolina Panthers fan. He loved coaching baseball for his sons when they were growing up, he loved tinkering and was a jack of all trades who could work on anything. Harry was a U.S. Army veteran. He truly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He never missed a ball game, dance recital or any special event that had something to do with his grandchildren if he could help it. Harry loved his brothers and sisters and loved talking with his sister Teresa McAdams daily. Harry also loved his wife’s family dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Carter; children, Lee Carter (Stacy), Travis Carter (Kristen), Angie Carter, Kourtney Carter, Bailey Carter; daughter-in-law, Felisha Solomon; grandchildren, Ian, Eli, Millie, Emma, Colton, Cameron, Olivia, Ashlin, Seth, Raley, Riley, Madison, Jackson; great grandchildren, Levi, Lillie; siblings, Don Carter (Cindy) of Mooresville, Mike Carter (Betty) of Mooresville, Jimmy Carter (Terry) of Wilmington, Susie Wicks (Bruce) of Chapel Hill, Teresa McAdams of Elon, Mark Carter (Dawn) of Raleigh; numerous nieces and nephews; special aunts and uncle, Peggy Hampton (Benny), Tootsie French; special cousin, Shirley French (Ralph) and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel Solomon and a brother, Gary Carter.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 4, 2021 at Ossipee Baptist Church by Rev. Aaron Beverly and Rev. Dr. Jeff Morgan with interment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Harry will be available for viewing from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2021 and 8:00 am to noon on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory. The family asks that masks be worn at all services.
