Harold Wayne Perkins, Sr. (SINGING SAM), 73 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 55 years to Chris Perkins who survives.
Harold retired from P Lorillard Tobacco. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War, completing 6 years active duty and 12 years in the reserves. Harold along with his wife attended Carolina Christian Church. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, NC State fan and a lifelong Elvis Presley fan. He enjoyed singing and was known as “Singing Sam” because he often sang to his co-workers. Harold was a devoted husband. He was also a loving and affectionate father and grandfather. All children adored his playful ways.
He is survived by his wife, Chris Perkins of the home; son, Wayne (Aimee) Perkins, Jr. of Burlington and daughter Christal (Steven) Sandifer of Orange County; grandchildren, Wyatt and Sarah Perkins, Walter and Willow Sandifer; sister, Karen (Jeff) Hall of Burlington and brother, Charles (Nancy) Perkins of Whitsett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruby Perkins, sisters, Martha P. Neibel and Judy Smith.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, September 15, 2021at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Chuck Perkins and Rev. Jeff Smith. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors by the US Army. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website below.
