Mr. Harold Lester Johnson, age 80, of Whitsett St., passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Hospice Home after several weeks of failing health. Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Robert Lemann Johnson and the late Bessie Evans Johnson and was married over 40 years to Mrs. Ruby Long Johnson, who survives. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran that served during the Korean War and retired from Glen Raven mills after 32 years of service. Harold was very active in his church, Full Gospel Tabernacle, and also was involved in singing at various rest homes. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Donie B. Kepley of Snow Camp; four grandchildren, Robbie Mayton, Arnold Baldwin, Jr., Allen Wayne Baldwin and Rebecca Howington; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Johnson of Gibsonville and Darlene Johnson of Snow Camp; and a brother, Donald Elmer Johnson of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Janice Porter, Ruth Johnson Fogleman and Peggy Hill. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Full Gospel Tabernacle by Rev. Kevin Barbour. Interment will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
