Harold Eugene Hawk

Harold Eugene Hawk, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, at his home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, after several years of failing health. He was a native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Alfred Eugene and Eva Reece Hawk.

Harold retired from Burlington Industries after more than 50 years as a fixer, repairing and maintaining machinery, utilities, and plant structures. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting and made annual hunting trips out west. He, his wife Ruth, and grandson, Nick spent vacations at Harkers Island. They enjoyed visiting flea markets and yard sales. He also found the time for woodworking in his home shop and keeping a beautiful rose garden.

Harold and Ruth loved and nurtured their grandson, Nick. Harold was a stern and straightforward man who was proud to have helped Nick become the fine man with the same strong work ethics and sense of responsibility they had.

Harold is survived by his wife; Ruth Ingle Hawk; stepson Leon E. Apple (Karen M. Apple wife) and grandson Nicholas E. Apple. He was preceded in death by his first wife Annie Lee Brown Hawk and stepson Eugene Lamb.

At Harold’s request a small private graveside service to celebrate Harold’s life will be performed. The family will receive visitors at their home between 3:00 - 6:00 until January 27, 2025.
