Harlene Garner

Harlene Proffit Garner, 89, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at her home.

She was the widow of H. Douglas Garner, who passed away in 2013 after they had shared 63 years of marriage.

Born in Boone, N.C., Harlene was the daughter of the late Mary Emma (Thomas) and William Henry Proffit, Sr.

Harlene graduated from Christopher Newport College with a Bachelor's Degree. She was a member of Gap Community Church.

Harlene is survived by her sister, Olive "Bob" Norris of Gallatin, TN; her niece, Melanie Proffit, with whom she lived with and several other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Arlie, Cicero, Fred, William Henry, Dayton, Geneva, Junita and Pearl.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg with a viewing from 10 until 11 AM. The graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 1st at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harlene's memory to Gap Community Church, 835 Houston Run Dr., Gap, PA 17527.
