Hal finished his tasks here on Earth and was taken to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 86 on October 28, 2018.
Hal was born and raised in Danville, Virginia, the son of Gratton Thomas Hubbard and Beulah Hackworth Hubbard, both deceased.
Hal is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mickie, the former Mildred Hall of Pittsylvania County, Vandola Community, Virginia; one daughter, Sandra Hubbard Nash and husband, Edward Thomas Nash of Bishop, GA; one son, Halton Keith Hubbard and wife Ina Needham Hubbard, of North Wilkesboro, NC; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sandra Arlyne Nash; four sisters, Odessa Hubbard Patterson, Louise Hubbard Buchannon, Hazel Hubbard Jennings, and Orena Hubbard Haynes.
Hal served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Alaska, for three years and seven months as a senior aircraft technician during the Korean War. After serving as an airman first class, Hal graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and was employed by Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies for forty years as an electrical test planning engineer.
Hal was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Haw River where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, choir member, co-treasurer, member of various committees, MAC-Baptist Men member, and was honored with the title of Deacon Emeritus.
Hal and his beloved Mickie carried Meals-on-Wheels for the First Baptist Church of Haw River for twenty-two years. He also taught art at Alamance Community College for several years.
To know Hal was to love him. He truly was the "hands and feet" of Jesus on this Earth as he lived a life of service and encouragement to all he met.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 1, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Haw River by Rev. Jonathan Jenkins with entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
