Greensboro Hallie Elizabeth Apple Morton, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Whitestone Masonic Eastern Star Home following a lengthy illness. She was born February 19, 1925 to the late Lexie McKinley and Helen Heath Apple and was the wife of 60 years to the late Russell Vernon Morton. Hallie was a longtime member of Grove Park Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class and attended the Kernodle Senior Center regularly. She is survived by her daughters, Jan Humphrey and husband Robert of Livonia, MI, Pam Norwood and husband Phil of Jamestown; son, David V. Morton and wife Linda of Mt. Airy, MD; grandchildren, Elizabeth Moore, Catherine Napier and husband Chip, Abigail Laurent and husband Patryk, Christopher Morton E. Norwood, Laura S. Morton, D. Lee Morton; great grandchildren, Zoe, Helen and Lily Moore; sisters, Louise Robertson Thomas, Mable Powell, Margaret Smith; sister-in-law, Ruth Apple; and brothers, Rev. Charles Apple, W.J. Apple and Paul Apple. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Warren Apple. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2012 at Grove Park Baptist Church by Chaplain David V. Morton, Dr. Phillip W. Norwood and Dr. Gene Hunsinger with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Morton will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. A special thanks to everyone who has shown their loving kindness to Hallie through the years.
