Mrs. Hallie Oakley Griswold, 91, formerly of 3793 S. Church St., died Friday, March 29, 2007 at Edgewood Place after two years of failing health. A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Erasmus Hubert Oakley and the late Addie Rudd Oakley and was married for over 57 years to Ralph Lee Griswold, who died in 1992. She was a career homemaker and was a member of Greensboro Primative Baptist Church. She was a former President of the Highland Homemakers Club and a longtime secretary for Prospect Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Griswold is survived by a daughter, Rita Griswold of Burlington; four sons, Meredith Griswold and his wife, Carolyn, of Wilson, Anthony Tony Griswold and his wife, Teresa, of Jamestown, Terry Griswold and his wife, Candi, of Snow Camp and Robin Griswold and his wife, Dawn, of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Sherry Forschen, Elaine Long, David Griswold, Victoria Thomas, Erica Turner, Ryan Griswold, Chris Griswold, Lee Griswold and Michael Griswold; five great grandchildren, Elizabeth Long, Jennifer Long, Benjamin Griswold, Abigail Griswold and Dustin Boggs; and a sister, Anna Lou Volker of Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a granddaughter, Laura Boggs; a sister, Minnie Oakley; and three brothers, Jack Oakley, Woodrow Oakley and Charlie Oakley. A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Elder Kenneth Key. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 Monday evening and other times at the sons home, Robin Griswold, 1103 W. Davis St., Burlington.
