Gus Kakavas

Gus George Kakavas, 79, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home after several years of failing health and seven months critical illness. He was born in Greece to the late George Kakavas and the late Helen Scordas Kakavas and was married to Judy Way Kakavas who survives. Gus was the owner and operator of Gus's Drive-In. He was a part-time musician and photographer, receiving some fame in the Greek community while playing in a Greek band. He was a member of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. Gus was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home; sister, Libby Steve Chevpelis of Whitestone, NY; brother, Christopher G. Diana Kakavas of Burlington and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Glenn Page, Jr. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church with interment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
