Golda “Goldie” Fogleman Whittle, 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 8, 1923 in Alamance County to the late Daniel Cicero “D.C.” Fogleman and Millie Thompson Fogleman, and was married to the late L.C. “Pete” Presley Whittle who died in 1993.
Goldie retired at age 91 from LabCorp after many years of service. She enjoyed reading her bible and working at LabCorp, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Goldie is survived by her sons, Jerry M. Whittle, Sr., and Ricky M. Whittle and wife Evelyn; grandchildren, Tina W. Brannock and husband Fred, Jerry “Marty” Whittle, Jr., and Christopher “Chris” Whittle and wife Leigh Ann; step grandchildren, Eric Faucette and Michelle Jefferson; great grandchildren, Chase, Cody, Beka, Amy and Ben; a great great granddaughter, Hallie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Esther Whitley, Maggie Vaughn, Nellie Hawkins, Marvin Fogleman, Grady Fogleman, Cletis Fogleman Wrenn and Daniel Fogleman.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Alamance Memorial Park by Pastor Kevin Bunn. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30pm Saturday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
