Glenda Turner

BURLINGTON- Glenda Jones Turner, 72, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 7, 2014 at her home. She was born in Guilford County to the late Noel Buford and Virginia Mae Beck Jones and was the wife of 51 years to the late David Lee Turner. Glenda was a longtime member of People's Memorial Christian Church where she joined the Spiritual Trio singing group and was employed with Glen Raven Mills for many years where she later retired. Every morning she would meet with her closest friends for breakfast and fellowship. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Turner Vargas and husband, Mike, of Wake Forest and Rene Turner Cranfill and husband, "Shorty", of Burlington; a son, Jeffery Lynn Turner of Burlington; grandchildren, Jason Vargas and girlfriend, Jaime Herman, Ben Vargas and wife, Elizabeth and Josh Cranfill; a sister-in-law, Virginia Howerton and a nephew, Brent Howerton and wife, Beverly. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Lois Jean Jones and a brother, Edwin "Ed" Jones. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bruce Church and Mack Ray with the interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the daughter, Rene's home in Burlington.
