Gladys Clingenpeel

Gladys Naomi Hughes Clingenpeel, 82, of 6866 Bethel Church Rd., passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was the wife of the late Winfred Judd Clingenpeel and the daughter of the late Charles Jennings and Sallie Spangler Hughes. Gladys was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church where she was active in the Ladies Circle #2, taught Sunday School and played the piano. She was also a member of the Gibsonville Garden Club and the Art & Literature Club of Gibsonville. Survivors include a son Winfred Clingenpeel, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Rockville, MD, daughters; Gayle Horton of Granite Quarry, NC, Susan Clingenpeel, Annie Clingenpeel both of Asheville, NC, a sister Ruth Emory of Eden, NC, a brother Stokes Lawrence of Angier, NC, grandchildren; Chris Clingenpeel, Jonathan Clingenpeel, April Lambirth, Bif Horton, Shawn Maclaga, Ivan Shingleton, great grandchildren; Britni Clingenpeel, Colin Clingenpeel, Casie Clingenpeel, Christopher Brooks and Henry Bryson Maclaga. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Conrad Lawrence, Paul Lawrence, Charles Junior Hughes, Jr. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by Rev.s David and Laura Greene. Interment will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10:30 AM 12 Noon Friday at the church and at other times at the home.
