Burlington, NC Rev. G. Bernard Dodson, age 90, formerly of Whitsett and a current resident of Twin Lakes went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Twin Lakes Center. He was a native of Stokes County and the husband of 65 years to the late Mamie Saferight Dodson who died in 2002 Rev. Dodson was the founding pastor of the First Baptist Church of Whitsett where he ministered for over 25 years. He enjoyed serving the Lord and ministering to people and in his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and hunting. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Gilmer Dodson and his wife, Becky of Burlington, Leroy Dodson and his wife, Sue of Moore, South Carolina; grandchildren and spouses, Rev. Jeff Dodson and his wife, De of Whitsett, Karen Davis and her husband, Lee of Waxhaw; great grandchildren, Preston, Brandon and Austin Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bessie Bucherich and her husband, John of Greensboro, Irene Osborne and her husband, Avery of Greensboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard Dodson and his wife, Bernice of Greensboro, Elroy Dodson and his wife, Peggie of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, Henry Gilmer and Viola Dodson Dodson; brothers, Paul and Charlie Dodson. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jeff Dodson and assisted by Rev. Larry Janey and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the home of Gilmer Dodson, 606 Trail Three, Burlington, NC 27215. Memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity.
