Gertrude Mize

Burlington-Gertrude Anderson Mize, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2018 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late James Herbert Mize.

Gertrude retired from AT&T/Lucent after many years of service. She loved gardening, fishing and especially surf fishing at the beach. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Jan Mize Lowder and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Brad Lowder and wife, Dee, and Christina Mohanani  and husband, Vijay, Chris Mize and wife, Stephanie, Beth Terry and husband, J.D.; great grandchildren, Dylan (Erica), Ashlie, Jordan and Camden, Jimmy (Megan), Nate, Abby, Leah, Emerson, Anderson, Jackson; great great grandson, Liam; sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Realini. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, James Allen and Brona Mae Squires Anderson; son, Larry Mize; daughter, Linda Gail Mize, infant brother, Allen Anderson and siblings, Cornelia and Robert Anderson.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 2:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William Todd. The burial will follow at Long’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45PM prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Brad and Dee Lowder in Graham.
