Geraldine “Dinkey” Edwards Smith met her Savior on Saturday, May 4, 2024 with her loving daughters by her side. She was born on May 15, 1934 to Lake Alexander Edwards and Margaret Carter Edwards.
Dinkey married Harvey Allen Smith in June 1952 and they were married 39 years. She was a homemaker and an integral part of her husband’s electrical business. Later years, she retired from the US Postal Service.
A member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church, she sang in the choir for over 50 years, taught Sunday School and was an Awana leader. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining family & friends throughout many years.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy McLaughlin (Gerald), Gerry Holt (Paul), and Jane Johnson (Brady). Her grandchildren, Derek Gribble, Mindi Ramsey (Michael), Matthew Holt, Samuel Holt (Lauren), Cameron Johnson (Aly), Katlyn Huffman (Landyn), Jessica Dupree (Zack); great-grandchildren Makena Chapman (Brent), Carter Ramsey and Zay Holt.
She has now reunited with her husband, Harvey Allen Smith, her parents Lake Alexander Edwards and Margaret Carter Edwards and siblings, Max Edwards, Eldridge Edwards and Frances Welch. Kathy, Gerry and Jane are thankful for the nursing staff of Twin Lakes Piedmont Community who lovingly cared for our Mother and treated her with great respect.
We are very appreciative of the special care that AuthoraCare Hospice provided to our Mother.
