Georgie Petteway

Georgie Ferrell Petteway, 91, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at White Oak Manor surrounded by her family. She was born on February 23, 1926 in Jones County to the late Charlie Ferrell and Lillian Perry Gray Ferrell.

Georgie was a retired registered nurse with Twin Lakes Retirement Center and a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She began her nursing career during WWII.

Survivors include her daughters, Pamela Moody and husband, John, Angela Horton and husband, Timothy; grandchildren, Elyse Riner, Ian Mincey, Patrick Moody, Jonathan Moody and Tamara Horton; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Ferrell and wife, Christy, John Ferrell, Preston Ferrell and wife, Peggy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Anita Petteway Mincey; grandson, Caleb Seth Horton; sisters, Shirley Sutton, Gladys Heath and Hilda White; a brother, Malcolm Ferrell.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Timothy Horton with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm Saturday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a Hospice of your choice.
