George Bennett

George Thomas Bennett, 83, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bennett was born in Sykesville, Maryland to the late Richard Roberts Bennett, Jr. and Katie Maddox Bennett. George was a retired livestock broker, was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church, and he was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Diane G. Bennett of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Satterwhite Jarboe and her husband, Charles of Bonita Springs, Fl; and Lisa Bennett Ours of Greenville, NC; a son, Christopher Thomas Bennett and his wife, Ellen of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Allison Satterwhite, Kathryn Satterwhite, Ashley Wilkerson Matt, and Nicholas Ours; a brother, Richard R. Bennett, and three sisters, Dorothy Mathieson, Evelyn Apichella, and Marilyn Workman. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Gagnon and Christine Bacon; and two brothers, Harry Bennett and Donald Bennett. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Front Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marshall Old officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
