George McFarling III

George Thomas "Tommy" McFarling III, 61, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Tuesday, March 30, 2010. He was the husband of Delores "Dee" Leonard McFarling and was born Oct. 25, 1948 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late George Thomas McFarling, Jr. and Dorothy Snead McFarling. He worked many years for Burlington Industries at the Williamsburg Plant and was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. George was probably best known for his photography, having taken recreational sports teams and individual photos for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother who will greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of the home, a daughter Michelle Ernie King of Elon, a son Matthew Crystal McFarling of Burlington, grandchildren; Brock King, Brayden King and Baby McFarling, sisters; Arlene Lawrence Davis of Danville, Pauline Fred Moore of Eden and Becky Bowman of Eden. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
