Burlington, NC George Malachi Isley, Sr. age 85 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 47 years to Lucy Hines Isley who survives. George was a grain farmer in the Friendship Community during his lifetime. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served on the Property Committee, Church Council, Memorial Association and was an usher. George helped with the Men's breakfast and the annual Fall BBQ supper. He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed bowling, nascar and watching the UNC Tarheels. George was devoted to his family who all live near the family farm. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Hines Isley of the home; sons, George Malachi Isley, II, John Isley and wife, Debbie and Nick Isley and wife, Tina all of Burlington; grandchildren, Ashton Isley, Gage Isley, Nichole Harbeston and husband, Brian and Chelsea Lineberry; sisters-in-law, Barbara Isley and Judy Hines both of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews and his special companion, his dog "Rascal". He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gladstone and Mary Bess Nicholson Isley and brothers, William Milton Isley and David Gladstone Isley. The family would like to thank the Hospice of Alamance-Caswell nurses and staff for their kind and compassionate care of George over the course of his illness. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 3:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Nathan Hooks and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
