George Filmore Gerner, age 75, formerly of Holts Store Road died on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Randolph Health and Rehab Center. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of the late Elsie Lena Peggy Smith Gerner. George was employed with Holt Hosiery for many years. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dottie Hornaday and her husband, Doug of Liberty; grandchildren, Tommy Gerner and his wife, Shelby of Whitsett, Glenda Gerner Poole, Jamie Hornaday Day and her husband, Tommy of Burlington, Steven Hornaday and his wife, Paula of Liberty; great grandchildren, Brittany Soots, Zachary Poole, Luke and Andy Bo Day; sisters, Mary Susan Allison of Gibsonville, Nola Woodard and Margaret Plummer both of Whitsett, Daisy Greeson of Burlington; brother, Connie Gerner of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, George Monroe Junior Gerner; parents, James Monroe Gerner and Lahla Inez Andrews Gerner; sister, Elizabeth Greeson; brothers, John, Charlie and Thomas Gerner. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. George M. Jack Phillips, Jr. and the burial will follow at Springwood Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
