George Bartlett

Burlington, NC George Edgar Bartlett, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Twin Lakes Memory Care Center. He was a native of Burlington, Vermont and the husband of Nancy Young Bartlett who survives. George retired from Gaymar Industries. He was a member of St. Mark's Church where he participated in several Men's Bible study groups. George was a member of the Barber Shop Quartet Singing Association of America and he sang with several barber shop quartets over the years. He sang in the choir at Twin Lakes and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Young Bartlett of the home; sons, Steve Bartlett and his wife, Pat of Chapel Hill, NC and Doug Bartlett and his wife, Linda of Peachtree City, Georgia; step son, Andy Young and his wife, Shelly of Zebulon, NC; step daughter, Melissa Cross and her husband, Bob of Malvern, Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Lydia Phalen and her husband, Bruce of Lewes, Delaware. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Betty Jane Labbitt Bartlett; parents, Isaac Norton Bartlett and Mariam Bartlett Bartlett and a sister, Mariam Reynells. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Foley Chapel of Twin Lakes by Rev. Bob Disher and Rev. Ben Bishop. The family will have a reception immediately following the service in the Pepper Tree Caf at Twin Lakes.
