George Apple

George Allen Apple, age 80, of Springhill Drive passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Hospice Home. A native of Caswell County, he was the son of the late Robert Elisha and Martha "Pattie" Walker Apple and husband of Shirley Gann Apple who survives. George was a member of Burlington Assembly of God and a member of the church mens mission team. He was a machinist and a finish carpenter for residential and commercial construction. George was a loving, kind and gentle man. His faith in God was his first priority in life and followed by his devotion to his family and friends. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Gann Apple of the home; daughter, Rhonda D. Apple of Burlington; son Michael D. Apple and wife Lynda of Cayce, SC; grandsons, Ryan Dempsey (Kerry) of Chantilly, VA, Patrick Dempsey of Burlington, Connor Dempsey (Elizabeth) of Durham; granddaughters, Bethany Scheele (Matthew) of Simpsonville, SC, Caroline Faucette of Columbia, SC and Aimee Faucette of Cayce, SC; sister, Lela Apple McKinney of Reidsville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Burlington Assembly of God by Rev. Bryan Rainbow and Rev. Howard Thompson. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Apple will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6-8pm Tuesday.
