Geneva Hughes

Burlington Geneva Graves Hughes, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2015 after 40 days of failing health. She was born in Alamance County to the late Henry Levi and Beulah Bessie Campbell Graves and was married to the late Arthur Blair Hughes. Mrs. Hughes was a former employee of A&P Grocery Store and she was a lifelong Methodist who recently attended both Trinity Presbyterian Church and Milton Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her niece who was more like a daughter, Jennifer L. David Gabriel of Elon; nieces and nephews, Allen Karen Leathers and family, Gwen Thompson and family, Steve Claudia Fogleman and family; great niece and nephews who were more like her grandchildren, Jeff Candace Gabriel, Sharon Roberto Crespo and Ryan Monica Gabriel; great great nieces and nephews who were more like her great great grandchildren, Alex Gabriel, Aaron Gabriel, Julian Crespo, Jadon Gabriel, Abi Gabriel, Lance Crespo and Jude Gabriel; and close neighbors who were more like family, the Martin Castaneda family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and four sisters. The funeral will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church by Ryan Gabriel with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Jennifer L. Gabriel.
