Gene Gibson, Sr.

Gene William Gibson, Sr., 84, of Burlington passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his home after three weeks of declining health. He was born in Alamance County to the late Charles Culberson Gibson and the late Gradie Eugene Clapp Gibson. He was married for 64 years to Clara Terrell Gibson who survives. Gene was a U.S. Navy veteran who faithfully served his country in WWII. He was the owner/operator of Gene Gibson Heating and Air and was of the Presbyterian faith. Gene was devoted to his family. His generosity, love, support, sense of humor, and open mind positively impacted every person he met. He is survived by his wife of the home, sons, Gene W. Gibson, Jr. of Burlington, Christopher Ray Gibson of Elon; daughter, Jean F. Steve Gibson-Miani of Raleigh; grandchildren, Cameron Walker, Callie Walker, Chad Gibson, Jared Jennifer Gibson and Kyle Clemmons; great grandchildren, Charlotte and Quinn Raynor, Sebastian and Chad Gibson, Jr.; eight step grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Audrey McIver, Betty Jack Church, Judy Winstead and Brenda Jack Keck; brother-in-law, Carlton Gwen Terrell of Burlington and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Jack Gibson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2001 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Hunsinger. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 prior to the service.
