Gary Lee Edmonds, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was born June 13, 1954 to the late Columbus Deering Edmonds, Jr. and Glenda Allen Gover and was the husband of 17 years to Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Alfonso of the home. Gary was an employee of Measurement Incorporated located in Durham, NC for over 28 years. Prior to his employment at Measurement Incorporated, Gary worked in commercial and residential construction for 24 years and became an expert carpenter, bricklayer, plumber, and welder. He used these trade skills to serve his family and friends whenever they needed help. He did this with kindness, love, and the willingness to help others.
Gary joined the US National Guard in 1978.
Gary was a longtime, faithful member of Lifenet Community Church. He was also a member of the Lifenet Community Church mens fellowship which helped the elderly and needy in the community.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman especially enjoying fishing and hunting and he shared this passion with his sons. Gary was a heavy thinker and inventor of many things, as he would often be found tinkering in his shed.
Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy Edmonds and son Moses Caleb Edmonds of Graham , son Tony Lee Edmonds and son Jason Allen Edmonds of Mebane; grandchildren, Landen Cole Edmonds and Christian Lee Edmonds of Graham; sisters, Myra Manuli of Mebane, Donna Gover of Snow Camp; brothers, Jimmie Gover, Jr. (Missy) of Reidsville, William Gover of Burlington and Robert Gover of Mebane; two nieces and one nephew; uncle and aunt; Buddy and Gladys Gover of Burlington. Gary was preceded in death by his father C.D. Edmonds, Jr, his step-father Jimmie L. Gover, Sr., mother, Glenda A. Gover, and brother-in-law Philip J. Manuli.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Pete Beck III with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 prior to the service and other times at the home.
