Burlington - Gary Alan Brogdon, born June 6, 1948 and a resident of Stoney Creek, NC, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Gary was born in Northfield, OH, the son of Hildegard Klotz Brogdon and William L. Brogdon, and lived a vibrant and happy adult life in New York, Virginia, and North Carolina. After receiving his degree in Graphic Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology, where he made lifelong friends as President of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, Gary had a successful career in the printing and packaging industry. He was admired by his colleagues for his ability to manage operations with great efficiency while also recognizing and appreciating his employees as individuals. His co-workers and friends also knew him as an avid golfer with an incredible drive off the tee. He played courses all over the world, from his final home course of Stoney Creek to Pinehurst to St. Andrews, Scotland. Gary traveled internationally for work, but his favorite trip of all time was a visit to Zermatt with his dear wife Priscilla, who he married in August of 1969 and loved fervently for the 43 years of their marriage. Gary adored his family, including his beloved mother and father, his late sister Ruth Brogdon Fahey, his two daughters Kristen Denise Brogdon and Karen Lindsey Brogdon Martindale, and his son-in-law David Andrew Ulaszek. He was proud to be called Papa by his four grandchildren: Sophie Ulaszek, Nicholas Brogdon, and June and Della Martindale. All will remember him for his kindness, his incredible smile and puns, and his love of Duke basketball. Gary's daughters will host a luncheon and open house at the family home on Sunday, November 8 from 12-3pm. Please call 336-449-4252 for more details. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, which provided outstanding care for Gary in his final years hospiceac.org.
