Garland Bagbey

Garland Hitter Bagbey, 75, of 3551 Bagbey Trail died on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at his home after a year of failing health. He was born in Nelson, VA, son of the late Robert Yancey and Sudie Wilkins Bagbey and was married to Alta Jo Rogers Bagbey, who survives. Garland was a tobacco farmer and a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather who truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of the home, daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Chrisco, Patsy and Butch Hughes, both of Altamahaw, Carol and Danny Hoggard of Elon, Belinda and Matt Southard of SC; son and daughter-in-law, W. F. and Theresa Smith of Elon; sister and brother-in-law, Flossie and Dennis Williamson of VA; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 6 brothers. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Matt Smith with burial to follow in the Bagbey Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the residence.
