G. Roberts

Gaston Boyce Roberts, 76, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at UNC Hospital after five weeks of failing health. He was married to Margaret Humble Roberts for 57 years and was born November 15, 1936 in Waco, TX to the late Gaston Lee and Virginia Simmons Roberts. Boyce was a graduate of Abilene Christian University and worked in the garment industry, then worked as the manager of Oakwood Homes in Burlington. Following that he co-owned and operated Mayberry North Church St. with his wife, Margaret until their retirement. He was a member of Mebane St. Church of Christ and enjoyed playing golf and singing. He was a wonderful husband, father grandfather and great grandfather and will be surely missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of the home children, Jeff Roberts and his wife Mary of Eden, NC, Marcie Guthrie and her husband Michael of Burlington, Missy Stroud and her husband Tim of Conover, NC, Jay Roberts and his wife Rhonda of Graham, nine grandchildren, six great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Brent Ashley Stroud. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Jerry Weldon and Mr. Terry Rikard. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
