Frederick Jones

Frederick "Fred" Darrel Jones, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born in Johnston County to the late Samuel Lewis Jones and Claudia Hales Jones and was the husband to Patricia "Pat" Whitt Jones of 58 years who survives.

Fred retired after 33 years with AT&T. He was the valedictorian in his graduating class of 1951 from Selma High School; a graduate of NC State University as an electrical engineer; an avid gardener and a US Army veteran.

Survivors other than his wife, Pat includes a son, Geoffrey Brian Jones and wife, Charann; daughter, Kimberly Jones Caudle and husband, Rodney; grandchildren, Cody, Leah and Wyatt Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Julie Cheryl Jones and a infant sister.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Macedonia Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall to celebrate the life of Fred.
