Burlington, NC Frederic Scott Turner, age 55, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2011. He was born in Mentor, Ohio, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of Charles "Chuck" Frederic Turner and the late Nellwyn Wolcott McBride. Scott was Associate Vice President IT Human Resources of Labcorp in Burlington and employed with the company for over 30 years. Scott was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter where he served as the former Senior Warden. He was actively involved in various offices and committees over the course of many years in the church. Scott was a former member and Senior Warden of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Haw River and prior to moving to Burlington was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas where he also served as Senior Warden. Scott was a 1972 graduate of Arlington High School in Arlington, Texas. He was an honor student, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University and also a Masters degree in Computer Science. He served with distinction during his time at Texas A & M and was Captain of the Cadet Honor Guard. Scott entered the Air Force upon graduation receiving his basic training at Reece Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas and became an instructor pilot after graduation. He was a pilot of the T38, a super sonic jet. He finished his tour in the Air Force at Headquarters Operations at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Scott was a man of many admirable qualities and gifts who contributed his expertise in his career, church, community and family. He is survived by Patrick Rudd of Burlington, father and step mother, Charles "Chuck" Frederic Turner and Lillian Turner of Ramsey, New Jersey; sisters, Tracey Frank Farinaro of Park Ridge, New Jersey and Laura Neil Chernick of Goldens Bridge, New York; niece, Alexandra Farinaro; nephews, Jack Farinaro, twins, Aidan and Brandon Chernick and Scott was proud to be called their "God Father"; aunt and uncle, Diana Cartney Ezyk of Waldwick, New Jersey and his cousin, Cartney Ezyk also of Waldwick. A service to celebrate his life to God's Glory will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter and the burial will follow at "The Grove" burial cemetery of the church. The church will provide a luncheon reception in the Great Hall of the Church for the family to receive friends immediately following the committal service. The family will be at the home at other times. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to The Endowment of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, Box 136, Burlington, NC 27216.
