Burlington, NC Freddie Brown Simmons, age 58, of Porterfield Drive went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Benjamin Lazarus and Willie Brown Simmons. Freddie retired from Duke Power after over 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War where he received 2 Purple Hearts in combat. Freddie attended Altamahaw Baptist Church and he was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Freddie had many talents and he enjoyed restoring antique autos and woodworking. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Jeff Gammon of Burlington, Kelly and Anthony Davis of Burlington; grandchildren, Steven and Chelsea Gammon, William Davis; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Peggy Simmons of Burlington; sister, Carolyn Williamson of Elon. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Brandon Rich and a sister, Sandra Hall. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Rev. Walter Jones and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors provided by the 82nd Airborne Division. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the daughters home, Kimberly Gammon, 1157 Spring Road, Burlington, NC 27217. Memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamanc-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com.
