Fred Cox

Gibsonville Fred Daneard Cox, 70, of Eva Drive went home to be with the Lord December 10, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 6, 1939 in Galax, VA to the late Newton Fred and Rosia Imogene Vaughan Cox. He was the loving husband of twelve years to Karen Cook Cox who survives. Fred faithfully attended Glen Raven Baptist Church. He retired from Burlington Industries as a supervisor and was recently employed at JR Tobacco. Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters, Julie Thomas and husband Keith of Elon, Sara VonCannon and husband Tim of Winston Salem; a brother, Roy Lee Cox and wife Carolyn of Galax, VA; a sister, Reggie Edwards and husband Carl Dean of Ennice, NC; grandsons, Sam Thomas, Will Thomas and Adam VonCannon; cousins, Edwin "Ed" Stamper and Joe Poe; many nieces and nephews and his special K-9 companions, "Woody" and "Cal". He was preceded in death by his parents and aunt, Virgie Stamper. The funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Glen Raven Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Fann. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
