BURLINGTON- Mr. Francis Joseph "Frank" Sylvester, age 90, of Twin Lakes Community, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at Twin Lakes Coble Healthcare Center. He had been in ill health for an extended period of time. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Benedict Sylvester and the late Lucy Sylvestri Sylvester and was married for over 61 years to Mrs. Jane Cornetta Sylvester, who survives. Mr. Sylvester was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a former employee of General Foods Corporation for over 20 years and later retired from the Thomas J. Lipton Company with over 20 years of service. Frank was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed sports, cooking and working on his computer. Frank is survived by his wife of the home; his daughter, Arlene Sylvester Fricke and her husband, Michael, of Dallas, TX; his son, Donald Francis Sylvester and his wife, Elizabeth, of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Brian Sylvester and his wife, Julie, Daniel Sylvester, Kristen Sylvester and Breanna Fricke; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Noah and Evan Sylvester; and a sister, Esther Sylvester of Matthews, NC. A memorial mass and military honors will be conducted at 3:30 PM Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the May Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes by Rev. Bryant Cullinane, O.F.M. Conv. A reception will be held at a date and time to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
