Mebane Francis X. Jarman, 81, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home. He was born in Kenton County, KY to the late Henry Hayden and Victoria Julia Jarman and was the husband of 57 years to Joan Viola Jarman of the home. Francis faithfully served in the US Air Force and was employed with General Electric as an Electrical Engineer. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was an active volunteer, Knight of Columbus and participated in the choir. He was also a volunteer music instructor at Blessed Sacrament School. Francis was very active with the Cub Scouts as a Cub Scout Leader and was the director of the Northern Kentucky Youth Football League. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of his life. Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Robert Jarman of Franklinton, NC; daughters, Jeanna Simmons and husband, Joe Simmons, Jr. of Burlington and Jennie Spear and husband Don of Mebane; grandchildren, Simone Taylor and husband, Jonathan, Joseph Simmons III and wife, Lauren, Jon Spear and Sarah Comstock, Hugh Simmons and wife, Paige Schildkamp and James Spear and wife, Brianna and great grandchildren, Shannon Taylor, Tristan Spear and Mackenzie Simmons. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill Jarman, Victor Jarman and John Jarman. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Rev. Briant Cullinane, O.F.M., Conv. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and on Wednesday following the mass until 4:00pm at the home of Jeanna and Joe Simmons at 3037 Truitt Dr. in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, 515 Hillcrest Avenue, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1620 Hanford Rd, Graham, NC 27253.
