Gibsonville - Frances Stallings Howerton, 97, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Hospice Home. She was born in Alamance County to the late John William and Barbara Stubblefield Stallings and was married for over 72 years to William "Billy" Howerton who died in 2013.
She retired from Dixie Bell Hosiery after 29 years of service. Frances was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, the Hite Sunday school class and former member of the Women's Circle. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and working with crafts.
She is survived by her sons, William Ronald Howerton and wife Georgette, Billy Keith "Bill" Howerton and wife Wadeene "Dean"; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Barbara Dunn; sons, Jimmy Dale Howerton and infant David Howerton; son-in-law, James Edward Dunn; sisters, Lula Rich, Eva Kernodle, Lucy Radford, Hazel Thomas, Mary McCurry and brothers, Carl and Roy Stallings.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery by Rev. William Zima. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the son, Bill's home .
